An IFMA Based Competency Course
The primary role of facility managers is to manage/oversee an operating facility. To do this, facility managers must have a working knowledge of building systems, structure, interiors and exteriors and grounds so the facility and all of its required systems function efficiently, reliably, safely, securely and in a manner consistent with existing regulations and standards. Effective operation and maintenance of facilities is a complex responsibility in today's environment.

FMP Candidates: This is one of four courses required to earn your Facility Management Professional® (FMP®) credential from IFMA.

Fees include IFMA course materials, continental breakfast, lunch and break service. NIU will ship course materials to students 7-10 days prior to start of each class. Participants registering within 5 days of class start will need to pick up materials from the course instructor at the first class session.
Course Structure: NIU's Online FMP courses are asynchronous programs designed for independent study. Each course uses the IFMA FMP® course materials and includes a detailed study plan, audio-narrated slideshow presentations for each topic of study, discussion board activities, online quizzes and final course exam, and email and phone access to the NIU Instructor for individual consultations. Each course is designed to be completed within a dedicated 3 week window. This course is delivered online using Blackboard and Adobe technologies. Requirements for award of NIU certificate of completion include: Participation in all assigned activities noted in the course study plan and 75% or better score on all online quizzes and the final course exam.

Register at least two weeks prior to start of course date to avoid $100 late registration charge.
PAYMENT PLAN OPTION TERMS & CONDITIONS: The credit card payment plan option is available for Complete Series registrations completed at least 30 days in advance of the first course start date. Payment terms: 25% of the total cost will be charged to the credit card at time of registration. Any outstanding balance will be charged to the credit card 14 days prior to the program start. Payments may be made prior to the final due date by contacting Outreach Registration (800) 345-9472. Payment in full must be confirmed before shipment of any course materials. Standard cancellation policies apply.

Illinois Veterans and Illinois National Guard Grant Programs: This program is not eligible for funding under the IL Veterans and IL National Guard Grants. IVG and ING grants apply only to those programs assessing tuition and mandatory fees. NIU Outreach is licensed to deliver this program by the sponsoring professional organization. The registration fee for this program is not based on tuition and fees and includes course materials, licensing fees, catering services, and instructional costs not covered by the IVG/ING grants.
